Nilang by Lalique: launched in 1995. Created by Gerard Anthony. The name refers to Nilang Lake in India.

Fragrance Composition:

So what does it smell like? It is classified as an aqua-oriental-lotus fragrance for women.

  • Top notes: water jasmine, freesia, water lily and narcissus
  • Middle notes: blueberry and lotus
  • Base notes: sandalwood, amber, musk, vanilla and praline

Bottles:

Some people may be confused about what is what when it comes to the Nilang perfumes. So I created a quick little guide here for the original vintage bottles:
  • Parfum (golden ring on collar/white transparent cap)
  • Parfum Mini (golden ring on collar/white transparent cap)
  • 50ml Eau de Parfum (dark yellow cap)
  • 100ml Eau de Parfum (purple cap)
  • 30ml Eau de Toilette (pink cap)
  • 50ml Eau de Toilette (turquoise cap)
  • 100ml Eau de Toilette (light yellow cap)
  • Claire de Nilang (dark green cap)

Claire de Nilang:

In 1997, Claire de Nilang was introduced as a floral flanker scent to the original. Pure with hints of sharp green petals (as the stopper), freesia and hibiscus, and delicious, with a candied kumquat coulis.
  • Top notes: coriander leaf, freesia and bergamot
  • Middle notes: acacia, kumquat, pink pepper and cassia buds
  • Base notes: musk, sandalwood, vanilla and hibiscus

Fate of the Fragrance:

Nilang was discontinued, but reformulated as a fruity floral fragrance for women and relaunched in new packaging in 2011.
  • Top notes: lotus, mandarin orange, peach, melon
  • Middle notes: jasmine, clove, freesia, blueberry
  • Base notes: musk, patchouli, amber, vanilla, sandalwood, sweet notes
