Ishah by Charles of the Ritz: launched in 1954. The name simply means "Woman" in Hebrew.



It was one of the only perfumes by Charles of the Ritz to be made and bottled in France. The fragrance was packaged in boxed trimmed with gunmetal gray soutache trim against soft turquoise and white.

Ishah was available in the following products:

  • 1/8 oz Parfum Purse Bottle with screwcap
  • 1/4 oz Parfum
  • 1/2 oz Parfum
  • Mist
  • Eau de Toilette
  • 6 oz Dusting Powder


So what does it smell like? It is classified as a light, spicy oriental fragrance for women with an herbal chypre base.

  • Top notes: bergamot
  • Middle notes: spices, herbs
  • Base notes: patchouli, vanilla, musk, tonka bean, ambergris, sandalwood, oakmoss

Discontinued, date unknown.

Woman's Home Companion, 1956:
"Charles of the Ritz's Ishah perfume in colorful Persian slipper. $2.50."
